Dell EMC NFV Ready Bundle for VMware

Revision 14 posted to Service Provider Solutions - Wiki by manishd50 on 12/15/2017 4:48:13 PM

Dell EMC NFV Ready Bundle for VMware

Dell EMC, VMware, NFV

The Dell EMC NFV Ready Bundle for VMware is a turnkey solution optimized to simplify and accelerate production deployments.  With this solution, Dell EMC has built a fully integrated and validated solution that enables service providers to immediately launch their own services on top of this Network Function Virtualization (NFV) platform, minimizing, if not eliminating, the need to apply engineering resources to develop their own infrastructure.

The Dell EMC NFV Ready Bundle for VMware combines hardware, software, and Dell EMC engineering and is designed to create a more flexible, scalable, and agile platform for CSPs.  It includes open standards-based Dell EMC cloud infrastructure hardware (compute, networking) and a choice of a Virtual Infrastructure Manager (vCloud Director or VMware Integrated OpenStack) with vSAN or Dell EMC ScaleIO.

Dell Family Driver Packs

Family Pack Downloader, Downloads, ImageAssist, Drivers

Family Pack Downloader (ImageAssist Module) is a tool developed by Dell Configuration Services that enables you to download the latest Dell Family Driver Packs for your Dell systems. This tool allows you to configure and select different Dell models, OS and BITS versions to customize which Family Driver Packs you will get. Each time the tool is re-launched it can check for new versions based on the configurations you selected previously and keep your Family Driver Packs up to the currently released version. Download the latest release using the link below:

The driver packs on this page work with ImageAssist, KACE, MDT& SCCM deployments.  They are consolidated, combining models by generation rather than being model specific.  These packs are developed and sustained by Dell's Global Configuration Services group.  For support, please post comments directly to this page.

Drivers used during the development process have been tested and qualified by our Dell Product Group for both platform and factory integration.  There are times when newer drivers are provided by vendors, but in order to get these drivers to customers more quickly they are validated and posted online to support.dell.com.  (where Dell Command Update pulls from) These updated drivers if deemed required or critical will be tested, validated and integrated into the factory process during a future release.  Hence, there may be a delta between when a driver is ‘web-posted’ to support.dell.com and when it gets added to the relevant driver package.

Turn on page notifications for updates. (bottom right - requires logging in.)

Dell Command | Deploy - Driver Packs for Enterprise Client OS Deployment

Revision 527 posted to Enterprise Client - Wiki by Warren Byle on 12/20/2017 6:17:01 AM

Dell Command | Deploy - Driver Packs for Enterprise Client OS Deployment

Windows 10, Dell Command, windows 7, Precision, driver, deploy, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, latitude, Deployment, optiplex, cabs, sccm

Below you will find Driver CABs for Dell Enterprise class systems (Latitude, Optiplex, Precision) to be used to simplify OS deployments on those systems with deployment tools like Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (ConfigMgr/SCCM) or Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT).

System CABs for VenueXPS, Latitude, Optiplex, and Precision Workstations - are designed for deployment to a single model and are developed and supported by Dell

WinPE CABs are designed to provide required drivers for WinPE to boot a Dell Latitude, Optiplex, or Precision Workstation for the purpose of OS Deployment.

Family Driver Packs are designed for deployment to multiple models and are developed and supported by the Dell Configuration Services.

The links below will provide additional details on the CABs and a link to download.

If you are new to Dell Driver CABs, please check out the .CAB File Documentation and Walk-Throughs or the Win 7 Deployment video

You can also access the System CABs from http://support.dell.com -- Select Drivers & Downloads, and enter the system model. You will find the supported driver .cab file in the "Systems Management" section under "Driver Pack".

Automate your driver management by leveraging the Driver Pack Catalog.

Driver CAB's are grouped by product family and are listed with the most recent products at the top.

The Driver CABs are updated based on a release schedule which updates newer systems more frequently.  New CAB download pages will include Delta Reports on what has changed in the CAB.

If you still have questions, check out the Deployment FAQ page or our discussion forums.

NOTE: Windows 8 CABs for older systems will be reviewed periodically to see if there are new drivers required.  It is currently expected that Windows 8 will contain the drivers required for those systems.

Dell EMC ScaleIO Ready Nodes Solution Overview

Dell EMC ScaleIO Ready Nodes are validated and optimized building blocks for a software-defined block storage system that combines Dell EMC PowerEdge servers with ScaleIO software. This solution reduces the time IT organizations spend in planning and deploying a new enterprise grade software-defined storage (SDS) infrastructure. These nodes are also pre-configured, tested with certified components to provide the best performance possible. This reduces deployment risks and simplify ordering too.

ScaleIO Ready Node provides different server node configurations that are designed to be optimized for capacity or performance, and any combination in between. You can select pre-validated configurations, including All-Flash, All-HDD and Hybrid options, on by PowerEdge 1U1N servers (R630, R640) and 2U1N servers (R730xd and R740xd). All this, in a solution that’s fully supported by a single vendor – Dell EMC – for streamlined, collaborative support from the first call.

The Dell XPS 13 laptop, developer edition began life as “Project Sputnik” a scrappy skunkworks project to pilot a developer-focused system. Thanks to the amazing feedback and support we received from the community it became an official product. Four years later, we are on the sixth generation of the XPS 13 developer edition.

Alongside the XPS 13 we have added a beefier line made up of four Dell Precision Ubuntu-based mobile workstations and a new Precision All-in-One offering.

How did we get here?

As I mentioned at the beginning, project Sputnik began as a skunk works effort.  It was made possible by an internal incubation fund designed to bring wacky ideas from around the company to life in order to tap innovation that might be locked up in people’s heads.

Just weeks after the basic concept was green-lighted by the innovation team, it was publically announced as a pilot project at the Ubuntu developer summit.  The big focus of our efforts, particularly in the beginning, has been to work with Canonical to make sure that we had the appropriate drivers for all functionality including the touchpad.

From the start, the idea was to conduct project Sputnik out in the open, soliciting and leveraging direct input from developers via our Project Sputnik StormSession, comments on this blog, threads on the Sputnik tech center forum as well as the project Sputnik beta program.  In fact it was the tremendous interest in the beta program that convinced us to take Project Sputnik from pilot to product.

I would like to give a special shout out to the beta cosmonauts who signed on.  They were an intrepid lot who were patient and diligent working through issues to help make sure that when we went to production we had a product that developers would want.

This technical white paper explains the factors driving the introduction of the factory generated default password feature for iDRAC9 for Dell EMC 14th generation (14G) PowerEdge servers. Also, it provides guidance on how to adopt the feature in terms of best practices for provisioning, configuring, and maintaining. Each of the above practices have a strong influence on the secure operation and assurance of iDRAC9 for 14G PowerEdge Servers. The feature has a major impact on the default user account password in terms of the factory-default or shipping value. Prior to this generation of servers, the password was a publically well-known value calvin used across all servers. This technical white paper introduces this new feature and attempts to cover the main aspects that are crucial in comprehending its impact on the system management processes and procedures.
