Dynamic Driver Injection & Dynamic Patch Management
Dell CFI (Custom Factory Integration) emphasizes the need to dynamically manage your Windows 7 Operating System with minimal churn. We have outlined a series of scripts to utilize for Dynamic Driver Injection along with Dynamic Patch Management to occur within the Dell Factory. These scripts can be used in conjunction with your SCCM ConfigMgr and Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) OS Deployment images.

Dynamic Driver Injection:
Dell CFI will manage driver CAB injection for current shipping platforms coming out of the factory. This allows supported platforms to be shipped with the latest up-to-date drivers for the specific platforms being ordered. In most cases, no additional image updates are needed in order to request shipment of new platforms.
Dynamic Patch Management:
Dell helps eliminate security hassle with this feature in the way we help manage the Critical and Security (recommended & optional updates are not included) updates within your Windows Operating System image. This means your SCCM ConfigMgr and MDT Images come equipped with the latest security patches, without the need to update a new set of media to submit for orders being placed.
What’s Needed:
- Knowledge and understanding of the following Microsoft Windows Operating System Deployment topologies:
- Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (2007 / 2012)
- Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (2010 / 2012)
- ImportCustomDrivers.vbs & ImportCustomPatches.vbs script files:
- ImportCustomDrivers.vbs – Allows Dell to manage driver injection on the fly
- ImportCustomPatches.vbs– Allows Dell to manage up-to-date Windows OS Critical and Security updates

Monthly Patch Management Listing:
Each month, we collect a series of patches (Patch Tuesday) from Microsoft. These Critical and Security patches are used to place inside customer images in the Dell CFI process. This means, when your images are shipped from the factory using Dynamic Patch Management (contact your Program Manager for details) these updates are applied to your image so your Windows image comes equipped with the latest and greatest Security enhancements before the image touches your infrastructure.
