Description

Office 365 Add-on for ActiveRoles Server lets you provision user mailboxes, groups and contacts from your on-premises Active Directory into the cloud. This Add-on is intended to synchronize from the on-premises directory to the cloud directory by writing user mailbox, distribution group and external contact information into the cloud directory for your Microsoft Office 365 organization. It works in conjunction with Quest One Quick Connect.

With the Office 365 Add-on, the capabilities of ActiveRoles Server have been extended to support the following administrative tasks:

  • Create a user mailbox in Office 365 for a new or existing user account managed by ActiveRoles Server, with the option to assign an Exchange Online license to the newly created mailbox.
  • Update mailbox properties (such as First Name, Last Name, or Description) in Office 365 with the changes made to those properties of the user account in ActiveRoles Server.
  • Delete the user mailbox in Office 365 when the user account is deleted in Active Directory, or when the option to delete the mailbox is selected in ActiveRoles Server.
  • Create a distribution group in Office 365 for a new or existing group managed by ActiveRoles Server.
  • Update distribution group properties (including the members list) in Office 365 with the changes made to those properties of the group in ActiveRoles Server.
  • Delete the distribution group in Office 365 when the group is deleted in Active Directory, or when the option to delete the distribution group is selected in ActiveRoles Server.
  • Create an external contact in Office 365 for a new or existing contact managed by ActiveRoles Server.
  • Update properties of the external contact in Office 365 with the changes made to those properties of the contact in ActiveRoles Server.
  • Delete the external contact in Office 365 when the contact is deleted in Active Directory, or when the option to delete the external contact is selected in ActiveRoles Server.

All these tasks are performed in an asynchronous fashion. The changes requested through ActiveRoles Server are not immediately applied to Office 365; rather, they are queued, and then applied on a scheduled basis.
